OUR PRECISE HAZELNUT CULTIVATION.

The earth supports us, nourishes us, raises us and, at the end of our journey, welcomes us to restart the cycle of life. The land is the founding value of our family, the land is «not something to be sold» as we have been taught: in the past it has given our ancestors a living, and today it represents a challenge towards an absolute quality hazelnut-growing, capable of elevating the work of those who have preceded us to excellent levels.

HANDS, HEAD, HEART:
OUR PRECISE HAZELNUT CULTIVATION

Nocciola Amore Mio devotes every possible attention to the earth and to maintaining the balance of the ecosystem within its hazelnut groves. In the field we plan each operation by studying the characteristics of each plant, trying to intervene only if necessary and just to allow each tree to express itself in the most natural and vigorous way possible.

Most of the operations are manual, such as fertilization and pruning, a practice through which we select the best branches and limit the spread of diseases. Thanks to selective and rational thinning, we enable each tree to produce fewer hazelnuts, but of higher quality

To manage the problem of damaged fruit, we adhere to integrated pest management protocols by carrying out constant sampling of pathogenic insects. Treatments are reduced to the bare minimum and most of our attention is directed to soil maintenance. The goal is to preserve the natural fertility of our plots and, through careful processing, limit the hydrogeological risks associated with the steep slopes that characterize the ridges of the Alta Langa.

Since its foundation, Nocciola Amore has joined the Consorzio Langarola Classica, an association of farmers whose goal is to give a precise territorial identity to the Alta Langa hazelnuts belonging to the «Tonda Gentile delle Lange» cultivar.

Following the path traced by the Piedmontese winemakers, the Consortium is fighting for the hazelnuts of Cravanzana and neighboring municipalities to be recognized as a special sub-area of the Piedmont Hazelnut PGI: a real cru that gives the right value to the superior organoleptic characteristics of the hazelnuts produced here, to the hazelnut vocation of the territory and to the invaluable heritage of actions and knowledge handed down through the generations.
